About Acne Scar Treatment with Bellafill

Overview

Treatment of acne scars can be challenging, often requiring a series of laser treatments. While HA fillers are an option, the results may not be as satisfactory or long-lasting. Bellafill, on the other hand, stimulates collagen at the site of scars, effectively filling them in.

Typically, two treatments are recommended, spaced 8 weeks apart, with one syringe being able to treat an average of 9 scars.

Bellafill® is the only FDA approved dermal filler specifically designed for acne scars. This injectable collagen filler with microspheres offers immediate and long-lasting results for a natural-looking appearance.

Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate for Bellafill is a healthy individual over 21 years of age with atrophic acne scars.

What to Expect

Patients meet with a professional to discuss their needs prior to the procedure. Not all acne scars will improve with Bellafill, only atrophic scars
Before undergoing Bellafill® treatment, a skin test is required to identify any potential allergies to bovine collagen or lidocaine. This ensures the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.
Prior to procedure topical numbing is often used
The actual injection of Bellafill® depending on how many scars can take 30-60 mins, with immediate improvement.
Additional follow-up appointments may be recommended to further enhance or correct the treated area.

Recovery

Minimal downtime: Bellafill injections typically require minimal downtime, allowing patients to resume their daily activities shortly after the procedure.

Results

The majority of individuals notice about a 50-60% reduction in acne scarring approximately six weeks after their initial treatment, and results can continue to improve for up to a year.

Safety Profile

Bellafill has a well-established safety record and is FDA-approved.
But no cosmetic procedure is completely risk free. As with any injection there is risk for vascular compromise and infection.
Rare but possible complication with Bellafill in the risk of late granuloma formation. Granulomas are late development of nodules in the areas of injection
