Dermal fillers are widely used for chin enhancement, improving projection and facial harmony of lower face.
These enhancements can range from subtle to more pronounced, depending on the patient’s needs and aesthetic goals.
Most dermal fillers contain 1 cc of hyaluronic acid per syringe, equivalent to 1/5th of a teaspoon. The amount of filler needed varies based on the desired results however average amounts for chin are 1-3 syringes.
Ideal Candidate
Chin filler can be a good option for people who want to improve their chin and jawline’s definition, structure, or balance of lower face.
Some ideal candidates include:
People with jowling
People who want more structure
People with a recessed or double chin
People who want to improve the balance between their chin and nose
People over 40 who have lost bone density and facial definition due to aging
What to Expect
Patients meet with a professional to discuss their needs prior to the procedure. Oftentimes, injection of the chin will automatically enhance the jawline.
The filler is injected by the provider into specific areas such as:
Marionette lines
Chin apex
Mental crease
Pre-jowl area
The procedure takes about 10-30 minutes.
Recovery
It is advised to refrain from disturbing the treated area following a cosmetic procedure. Touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the area can potentially displace the filler or lead to complications.
Additionally, it is recommended to avoid facials, massages or dental work for the first two weeks post-treatment.
Similarly, intense physical activity should be minimized for the first 24-48 hours after the procedure. Vigorous exercise can increase blood flow, potentially causing the filler to move from the treatment area.
Results
It is advised to wait at least 2-3 weeks for filler to settle before making any adjustments
