About Frax Pro Non Ablative

Overview

The Frax Pro system is an advanced diode laser that offers targeted 1550 nm and 1940 nm wavelengths for dual-depth skin resurfacing, featuring patented SoftCool™ air cooling for comfort.

The FRAX Pro laser utilizes a non-ablative methodology for skin rejuvenation. This is accomplished through the emission of precise, controlled bursts of energy that penetrate the dermal layers. The energy generated stimulates collagen production, facilitating gradual skin resurfacing. Over an extended period, this treatment assists in enhancing the appearance of pigmented lesions, including lentigines (age spots), solar lentigines (sunspots), and ephelides (freckles), which may affect individuals classified within Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-IV.

Advantages

Frax Pro is a lightweight yet highly effective device designed to address skin irregularities. The treatment is quick, comfortable, and requires no downtime, making it an excellent option for concerns like acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, and fine lines.

As a non-ablative laser, Frax Pro targets tissue beneath the skin without damaging the surface. This approach ensures minimal downtime for patients following the procedure. Additionally, the Frax Pro laser effectively improves skin texture and can treat issues such as sun damage, brown spots, and various types of scars.

Pros

-Less Recovery Time: As a non-ablative laser, Frax Pro requires significantly shorter recovery compared to ablative lasers, which can take weeks or months to heal.

– Quick Procedure: Treatment typically lasts under an hour, though numbing cream application requires about 45 minutes prior.

– Minimal Preparation: Unlike other procedures, Frax Pro requires little prep, such as stopping certain skin products a week before. However, treatment may be postponed if your skin is sunburned or broken out.

Cons

-Less Dramatic Results: Frax Pro may provide subtler improvements compared to ablative lasers, making it less ideal for advanced aging concerns.

-Possible Discomfort: Treatments can be uncomfortable, often described as stinging or mild burning, influenced by individual pain tolerance and the use of numbing cream.

– Increased Sun Sensitivity: Post-treatment skin is more sensitive to sunlight, necessitating the avoidance of sun exposure and the use of SPF 30 or higher, along with protective clothing.

What to Expect

Before treatment

Prior to the treatment of the laser procedure, a numbing cream is usually applied for a duration of 45 minutes for ensuring patient comfort. Effective numbing is instrumental in making the treatment more tolerable.

Laser Procedure

Passes with the laser treatment over treatment area, usually 3-4 passes for each designated area.  Because it targets fractional resurfacing it is performed in a grid-like pattern. The laser is often described as producing a sensation of heat, which intensified with each pass;  however, the application of the cooling technology helps mitigate the discomfort.

Treatment with the laser typically takes about 15 minutes.

Recovery

Following the laser treatment, the skin will feel like an intense burn, or sunburn like sensation. The treated skin will be red, warm and will become flaky/dry after laser.

You may notice darkening of previous sunspots as the skin begins to heal and flake off.

Gentle skincare is essential. Intense moisturization is crucial for alleviating dryness following treatment and facilitating the healing process.

Results

Fax Pro results generally indicate that skin healing occurs by day 5, with the majority of flaking resolved. However, collagen production can take approximately three months to fully develop and may continue to improve over subsequent months.

Most patients will require more than one treatment, as this procedure utilizes a non-ablative fractional laser, which is less aggressive than ablative lasers.

Safety Profile

Frax is considered safe and effective for individuals with a Fitzpatrick Skin Type up to IV. In certain instances, practitioners with expertise in treating melanated skin may administer it for Skin Type V.

For those with darker skin types, it is recommended to consult a provider who possesses substantial experience in treating such skin tones.

Cost

The cost of Frax Pro treatment can significantly differ based on geographic location and the specific area being addressed. Average cost for a small area is  $750, $1,500 for a full facial treatment, and $2,000 for combined face and neck treatment with Frax Pro.
