How it works
Upper lids: a strip of skin, and sometimes fat, is removed through the natural crease. Lower lids: fat bags are repositioned or removed through a hidden inner-lid incision, with skin tightened if needed.
Four illustrative steps. Select a step to highlight it; the optional anatomy view explains the same mechanism.
Recovery, in practical terms
Bruising and swelling for 1 to 2 weeks; no contact lenses for 2 weeks.
What it can feel like: Local with sedation, or general anaesthesia.
What people discuss
Hooded upper lids, under-eye bags, a tired look that filler cannot fix.
Reasons to pause
Dry eye disease, unstable thyroid eye disease, bleeding disorders.
This list is not exhaustive. A clinician must assess your health, medications, skin and goals.
Risks worth understanding
- Dry eyes
- Asymmetry
- Rare lid retraction or vision problems
Ask your clinician
- Do I need skin, fat, or both addressed?
- How do you protect against dry eye?
