How it works
Hyaluronidase splits the filler's chains so the body absorbs them. Older filler in the area dissolves too, so it can look deflated before it settles.
Four illustrative steps. Select a step to highlight it; the optional anatomy view explains the same mechanism.
A schematic setting on one anatomy—not a prediction of your result.
Recovery, in practical terms
Swelling for 24 to 72 hours.
What it can feel like: Mild.
What people discuss
Migrated lip filler, lumps, a look you no longer want, emergencies.
Reasons to pause
Bee sting allergy (patch test first), known enzyme allergy.
This list is not exhaustive. A clinician must assess your health, medications, skin and goals.
Risks worth understanding
- Allergic reaction, rare
- Temporary deflation
- Can dissolve more than intended
Ask your clinician
- Will you patch test first?
- How long before I can refill?
