About Emsella

Overview

The BTL Emsella is a noninvasive treatment designed to address stress urinary incontinence. This technology utilizes high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) to induce muscle contractions throughout the pelvic floor, a network of muscles supporting the bladder, uterus, and bowels. By enhancing neuromuscular control and strengthening the deep pelvic floor muscles, this treatment can aid in the restoration of bladder control.

Advantages
During this noninvasive treatment, patients sit on the Emsella chair fully clothed for approximately 30 minutes. The chair emits electromagnetic energy, leading to involuntary contractions of the pelvic muscles up to 11,200 times per session. This treatment is sometimes referred to as the “Kegel throne.”

It is a convenient and effective way to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles without any invasive procedures. The session provides a quick and efficient method for improving pelvic muscle strength.
Pros
  • Non-invasive and comfortable treatment suitable for all ages.
  • Stimulates deep pelvic floor muscles, aiding in muscle re-education.
  • Addresses stress urinary incontinence (SUI), urge incontinence, and mixed urinary incontinence (MUI).
  • Offers intense contractions equivalent to 12,000 Kegels in one session.
Cons
  • Multiple sessions are needed
  • May not work for severe incontinence
What to Expect
  • Sessions last about 30 minutes each and are spaced at least two days apart.
  • Treatment intensity can be adjusted for individual comfort.
  • Full series of six sessions recommended for optimal results.
Recovery
  • Patients may experience mild soreness or stiffness after treatment.
  • Recovery time is minimal, allowing immediate return to normal activities.
Results
The optimal results start to show 2-4 weeks after starting treatment and typically last for approximately six months before necessitating a follow-up maintenance procedure.

However, with consistent adherence to daily at-home Kegel exercises, which simulate contractions of the pelvic floor muscles, it may be feasible to prolong the results beyond this timeframe.
Safety Profile
  • Safe for all healthy adults looking to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles.
  • Women should refrain from undergoing treatment while menstruating.
Cost

Cost averages around $200 per treatment sessions. Price varies on location and amount of sessions required.
