About Cellfina

Overview

Cellfina is an FDA-approved, minimally invasive treatment for reducing cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. It uses a subcision technique to break up fibrous bands under the skin that cause cellulite dimples.

Advantages

Cellfina effectively reduces cellulite with long-lasting results. It has high patient satisfaction rates and offers a non-surgical solution to improve skin texture and appearance.

Pros
  • Cellfina targets the structural factor of cellulite for a smoother appearance
  • Procedure done in a clinical setting under local anesthesia, lasting about one hour
  • Results can be seen within a few weeks, with significant improvement in three months
  • No severe adverse effects reported, with common side effects being mild soreness and bruising
  • Incisions made during Cellfina are small (2mm) and do not require sutures
  • Quick healing time with minimal downtime and scarring
Cons
  • Cellfina is not suitable for individuals with skin laxity or bulging fat
  • Intended for the treatment of cellulite, not body contouring
  • Results may take several months to be fully visible
  • May not effectively address inner thigh cellulite
  • Severe bruising lasting up to a month post-procedure
  • Consider the cost of treatment, typically not covered by insurance.
What to Expect
The Cellfina device administers a diluted anesthetic solution, like that utilized in liposuction procedures, beneath the skin’s surface to anesthetize the treatment area. Generally, additional medications are not necessary.

Following the onset of anesthesia, the healthcare provider will utilize a circular device to secure the cellulite dimple in position.

During the procedure, a handheld device targets and releases the fibrous bands. The treatment takes about an hour, and visible results appear within a month and last up to three years. Most patients experience minimal discomfort.

Recovery

Post-treatment, patients can typically resume normal activities within 24-48 hours. Some may need to wear compression garments and avoid sun exposure. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage any discomfort or swelling.

Results

It may require a period of up to two weeks to observe initial results, with final results potentially taking even longer to become apparent. Following the treatment, swelling and bruising may initially obscure the true outcome. As these subside, enhancements in cellulite dimples should gradually become noticeable.

Safety Profile

Cellfina is widely regarded as a safe treatment option. Serious adverse effects, such as infection, deep bruising, or fluid accumulation, are uncommon occurrences.

Cost

The prices for Cellfina treatment exhibit significant variation and can fall within a range of $2,000 to $5,500.
