About LaseMD Ultra

Overview

LaseMD Ultra is a thulium laser used in aesthetic and dermatological treatments. It is a dual-pulsed Q-switched Nd:YAG laser combining 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths to target various skin concerns.

The 1064 nm wavelength is effective for treating deep pigmentation, such as dark tattoos or melasma, while the 532 nm wavelength is suitable for superficial pigmentation, such as freckles or sunspots.

Advantages

This device uses dual-pulsed technology, enabling faster treatment sessions and enhanced efficacy compared to traditional single-wavelength lasers. Practitioners can customize treatments using adjustable pulse duration, spot size, energy levels, and wavelengths.

Pros
  • Creates small thermal zones in the skin
  • Stimulates rapid production of new tissue
  • Enhances permeability with minimal mechanical disturbance to the stratum corneum
  • Suitable for mild to moderate cases of actinic keratosis, benign pigmented lesions, lentigos, and freckles
  • Commonly used on the face, neck, and dĂ©colletage
Cons
  • Optimal results are achieved with two to three treatment sessions
  • Effective in rejuvenating sun-damaged skin
  • Not as effective as ablative lasers for deep wrinkles or skin laxity
  • Annual maintenance treatments required to sustain results
  • Longevity of results can be prolonged by mitigating sun damage
What to Expect

The LaseMD Ultra laser creates microscopic treatment zones in the skin, stimulating collagen production, and promoting skin rejuvenation.

Patients may experience mild to moderate discomfort depending on their pain tolerance and treatment settings. Topical numbing cream can be used for sensitive patients or treatments with higher settings to enhance comfort. Treatment sessions can range from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the target area’s size. After the procedure, patients may experience mild redness but can resume regular activities immediately. Complete healing typically takes 5 to 7 days. The number of sessions required varies based on patient expectations, with some seeing results after one session and others needing a series of treatments.

Recovery
While you’ll be able to go about your normal activities, you may want to take a few days to a week of social downtime, depending on the intensity level of your LaseMD treatment plan.

LaseMD Glow: You can expect a few hours of redness, similar to that of a mild sunburn.
LaseMD Refine: Redness can last up to three days. Light flaking is possible.
LaseMD ULTRA: You’ll have five days to a week of redness, likely with some flaking. Resist the urge to pick off the flakes.

There’s not much to do by way of aftercare, other than keeping your skin moisturized and protected from the sun.
Results
Visible outcomes depend on treatment intensity and healing duration. Noticeable results typically appear after skin restoration and redness resolution.

Clients see immediate improvements post-healing, but collagen-enhancing effects take a few months to develop as new cells and proteins form fully.

With proper skincare and sun protection, results can last several years. Regular hydration and antioxidant-rich products, along with high-SPF sunscreen, are recommended to prevent recurring damage.

However, skin aging is inevitable, necessitating ongoing maintenance. Continuous laser treatments or other rejuvenation therapies can help sustain results over time.
