How it works
Focused ultrasound delivers energy to selected tissue depths. The intended tissue response can stimulate collagen remodelling over time. Results vary by device, treatment area and person; it does not reproduce a surgical lift.
Four illustrative steps. Select a step to highlight it; the optional anatomy view explains the same mechanism.
Recovery, in practical terms
Mild redness or tenderness for a day.
What it can feel like: Moderate. Deep aching heat; pain relief is offered.
What people discuss
Mild to moderate sagging, brow lifting, neck and jawline, people avoiding surgery.
Reasons to pause
Very loose skin, open wounds, metal implants at the site, pregnancy.
This list is not exhaustive. A clinician must assess your health, medications, skin and goals.
Risks worth understanding
- Tenderness and bruising
- Temporary nerve irritation (numbness or weakness)
- Rare fat loss in thin areas
Ask your clinician
- Do you image the layers before firing?
- How many lines and at which depths?

- Injectables
Collagen stimulators (biostimulatory injectables)
Injectables that add little volume themselves.
A few days recovery - Energy and light
Radiofrequency microneedling
A clinician uses fine needles to deliver radiofrequency energy beneath the skin.
Important FDA safety notice
A few days recovery - Energy and light
Radiofrequency skin tightening
A handpiece heats the deeper skin from the surface, no needles, to tighten mildly and stimulate collagen.
Usually minimal recovery
