Surgery / TREATMENT GUIDE
Hair transplant (FUE and FUT)
Individual follicles are taken from the back of the scalp, where hair is permanent, and placed into thinning areas. FUE takes them one by one; FUT removes a strip and divides it.

How it works
Transplanted follicles keep their permanent character. The grafts shed at first, then regrow over months. Done under local anaesthetic, usually in one long day.
Four illustrative steps. Select a step to highlight it; the optional anatomy view explains the same mechanism.
Recovery, in practical terms
Scabs for 7 to 10 days, swelling, short donor hair with FUE.
What it can feel like: Local anaesthetic. Sore afterward.
What people discuss
Stable pattern hair loss with a good donor area.
Reasons to pause
Unstable or diffuse loss, scarring alopecia, unrealistic density hopes.
This list is not exhaustive. A clinician must assess your health, medications, skin and goals.
Risks worth understanding
- Infection
- Poor growth
- Visible donor scar with FUT
- Ongoing medication to protect the rest
Ask your clinician
- How many grafts, and who actually places them?
- Will I still need medication?
