Safety Profile
Pulsed dye laser (PDL) treatments are generally safe for all skin types, but some studies suggest that patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI may be at higher risk of adverse events when treated for port-wine stains (PWS).
 
These risks include hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, and scarring.
 
Further research is needed to better understand the use of PDL for PWS in patients with skin of color
