Microblading

Microblading is a technique that uses a specialized tool and pigment to create hair-like strokes on eyebrows for a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo.

About Microblading

Overview
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that involves the application of pigment to the skin. Unlike traditional tattoos, which use concentrated tattoo ink and are placed into the deeper layers of the skin, microblading utilizes smaller pigment particles that are applied superficially. As a result, the body eventually metabolizes the pigment, causing it to fade over time.

The use of different pigments and application techniques in microblading results in a softer and more subtle appearance compared to traditional tattoos, which tend to be opaque and bright.

Additionally, the pigment in microblading may lighten in color by a shade or two over time, in contrast to the blue-green tint that can develop in fading traditional tattoos.
Advantages

The advantages of microblading can correct and reconstruct eyebrows, offering a solution for thinning or over-plucked brows. Microblading enhances the eyebrows, providing a natural and fuller look. It is a versatile procedure that can address various eyebrow concerns. Overall, microblading offers a convenient and effective way to achieve beautifully shaped eyebrows.

What to Expect
  • Avoid getting a chemical peel 60 days before the appointment

  • Avoid taking ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, fish oil, or blood thinners 14 days before
  • Avoid tanning or sunburn 7 days before

Prior to undergoing the microblading procedure, it is advisable to conduct a patch test if you have any skin allergies or sensitivities. This test should be done one week prior to the full procedure to monitor any potential reactions to the pigments.

On the day of the appointment, the artist should engage in a discussion with the client regarding their desired brow goals, outline the shape that is being aimed for, and address any concerns the client may have before beginning the treatment. It is also common practice for the artist to take photos of the client’s brows for reference.

The actual microblading procedure involves the artist using a tool to create tiny hairlike strokes in the skin, depositing pigment in various directions. This process typically takes between 30 to 45 minutes, during which gel lidocaine is applied to ensure the area remains numb. Finally, a healing balm is applied to aid in the recovery process.
Recovery
Here are some general aftercare guidelines

Please refrain from applying any makeup on the tattooed area for a period of 2 weeks. The use of cosmetics during this time may hinder the healing process and affect the color of your eyebrows.

It is advisable to avoid intense sweating, gym activities, and working out for a period of 7-10 days following your procedure.

Swimming in pools, Jacuzzis, or any other bodies of water should be avoided for a duration of 2 weeks.

For a period of 4 weeks post-procedure, it is recommended to abstain from tinting, bleaching, dyeing, or undergoing a brow lamination.

During the healing process, it is important to use a healing balm

Avoid applying anti-acne products (such as Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid, Proactiv, etc.) or lightening creams to the treated area while it is healing.

After a period of 30 days, you may resume your regular skincare routine, including certain neurotoxins, fillers, and facial treatments.

If you plan to undergo laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician beforehand. These procedures have the potential to alter the color of the tattooed area (proceed with caution).
Results
The complete healing process will span a duration of 4-6 weeks, contingent upon the rate of regeneration of one’s body and their age. Throughout this healing cycle, the newly formed eyebrows will undergo various phases. Following the procedure, the pigment may initially exhibit an unnatural appearance, while on the subsequent day, the pigment’s color may appear significantly darker.

Microblading last 1-3 years.
