About UltraSound Technology

Overview

Aesthetic Ultrasound technology, such as High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), targets specific areas by reaching deep into the SMAS layer of the skin. This technology tightens the skin and addresses fine lines and wrinkles effectively. Clinical trials have shown that HIFU is safe and produces visible results within a few months, without the risks of surgery. However, individuals with severe sagging skin may not see as much improvement with HIFU treatments. Overall, HIFU is a promising non-invasive option for facial lifting and wrinkle reduction.

Pros
  • High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive procedure
  • HIFU can reduce wrinkles and tighten sagging skin
  • It can lift the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
  • HIFU can enhance jawline definition and tighten the dĂ©colletage
  • The procedure helps to smooth the skin and improve overall appearance
Cons
  • Facial treatment requires multiple sessions for desired outcomes
  • Noticeable improvements may be seen after 2-3 months
  • Collagen takes time to rejuvenate skin tissue
  • Full benefits usually seen after several weeks
  • Not for severe laxity or sagging
What To Expect
Prior to undergoing an HIFU procedure, no specific preparatory measures are necessary. It is advised to eliminate any makeup and skincare products from the designated treatment area before the commencement of the procedure.

During your appointment, the following steps can be anticipated:

  1. The designated area will be cleansed by provider.
  2. A topical anesthetic cream may be administered before the procedure.
  3. Ultrasound gel will be applied by the provider.
  4. The HIFU device will be positioned against the skin.
  5. Using an ultrasound viewer, the provider will adjust the device to the appropriate setting.
  6. Ultrasound energy will be delivered to the target area in short pulses for approximately 30 to 90 minutes.
  7. The device will then be removed.
  8. If additional treatments are required, the next session will be scheduled.

During the application of ultrasound energy, sensations of heat and tingling may be experienced. If discomfort arises, pain medication can be taken.
Recovery
One of the key advantages of this treatment is the ability to promptly resume regular activities following the appointment with the healthcare provider. While minor redness or swelling may occur, it typically resolves swiftly. Additionally, a mild tingling sensation in the treated area may persist for a few weeks.

In rare cases, temporary numbness or bruising may be experienced, however, these side effects generally diminish within a few days.
Results
The majority of individuals typically observe full results approximately three months following their final treatment.
Safety Profile
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment is contraindicated for individuals presenting with infections and open skin lesions at the intended treatment site, severe or cystic acne, as well as metallic implants in the targeted area. HIFU is considered safe for individuals across various skin tones, ranging from light to dark pigmentation.
